CUNY Tech Prep is a year long technical and professional development program for CUNY computer science majors to learn in-demand technologies, master professional soft skills, and land great tech jobs in NYC.
CUNY Tech Prep is an industry-informed program for exceptional computer science students in the CUNY senior college system. Developed and delivered with the CUNY Institute for Software Design and Development and industry leaders, CUNY Tech Prep is designed to provide students with industry exposure to software development and a connection to tech jobs post-graduation.
The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline is a $10 million industry partnership designed to support the growth of the City’s tech sector and deliver quality jobs for New Yorkers and quality talent for New York’s businesses.
Students work in teams on projects they propose, design, and implement. Each team is assigned a mentor that supervises the work, introduces the software development life cycle and best practices, and perform code reviews.
CTP partner companies also provide students an opportunity to collaborate on open source projects with real-world applications, in which students will stretch their existing development and teamwork skills.
It takes more than being a great coder to find a job! Our staff guides students to build a network within NYC's tech community and attend local meetups. Our career coaches meet with students one-on-one and through in-class workshops, assisting with crafting resumes, practice behavioral interviews, pitching projects, and improving soft skills. In addition, we offer on-site visits with our industry partners, and mock technical interviews with volunteers. Our volunteers are software engineers who offer best practices and provide direct feedback to students on their technical and professional development.
